Question: What do you want to BE when you grow Up?… An Intertidal Harvester?
Ah, the BIG life question that has stumped me since I was a little girl. I wanted to be a Doctor…till I saw blood. I wanted to be a teacher, huh, don’t know why I moved away from that one. I wanted to be the next Pauline Kael; I know why I moved away from that one. The BIG life question is one I still ask myself daily and while I celebrated my 40th birthday last fall (a glorious celebration) I realized that night I would discover what I will BE when I grow up within the next 40 years.
As I try to attain my life goal, I explore all the possibilities and opportunities available to me each day. I meet some fascinating people, in all kinds of places & I continue to learn. Today, I’d like to introduce you to one of my favourite discoveries, The Selby and an interesting cat I met through the Selby. As I was reading the New York Times I came across an article in the Arts section about a photographer and his website The Selby. I loved what the photographer, Todd Selby, chose to create for himself with his business. I’ve been following The Selby for a few years now and I’m always happy when his name appears in my mailbox. I know when I open the email I will meet another fascinating, unique character, actively participating in the game of Life. The Selby rarely disappoints and what I love most about my almost weekly dose of TheSelby is that it has become a source of inspiration for me. Each new person I learn about creatively drives me and helps me stay focused on what I want for my life, both professionally and personally (enter: The Intertidal Harvester). I get totally fired UP to go after ALL that I can for myself and that does not mean just taking from this wonderful life, it means giving to it as well. So each day, I wake UP, I show UP and I participate. Some days are golden, some days are kinda like copper and some days are bleak but in each one I play and simply give what I can. What do you do for inspiration? How do you show UP? Who was the last person you met that inspired you to reach, to go that little bit further or simply motivated you to START? I’m fortunate to have many people in my life inspiring me on a daily basis and I look forward to introducing them to you as I/we go.
So, without further adieu, I’d like to introduce you to that interesting cat I met one day last September. The Intertidal Harvester. http://youtu.be/lnBkQ6Hs0z0 courtesy of TheSelby. I absolutely adore this guy. I love what he does, I love his sense of humour and I love how he & his wife enjoy one another and their life….together. I hope they entertain and inspire you to go after WHATEVER you want from life. Accordions & all!
And, as I continue on in my search for “what I’ll be when I grow up,” I will check in from time to time and let you know how I am doing and enlighten you as I get closer to my discovery.
At this moment, all I know is that in the end I want to have as great a handle as Mr. Kirk Lombard’s, The Intertidal Harvester.
Enjoy the film.
